N95 Review : Nokia Mobile N95 Review Nokia N95 8GB Review

Nokia recently released their new black N95 8GB cell phone. The Nokia N95 8GB is a successor of its predecessor, the Nokia N95 cellphone. Basically you can also call it as the updated cell phone version of the original Nokia N95.

The Nokia N95 8GB just like its predecessor also equipped with a lot of great features like:

  • S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack, combined with Web/WAP browser and miniUSB connectivity
  • HSDPA, UPnP and Wi-Fi
  • A large 2.8" QVGA screen
  • A built in 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a Tessar lens
  • A great VGA-resolution video recorder
  • An integrated GPS based satellite navigation
  • A TV out for video echoing of any application or media item to a TV or other video equipment

This is a chunky phone, but there is an awful lot going on inside it. In terms of size you are looking at a device that's 99mm tall, 53mm wide and 21mm thick. It has a slider format and, most unusually, there are two sliders.

The most noticeable change with the new N95 is the move to a 2.8″ display. While it’s still at 240×320 the jump up to the larger display is a nice one. The change is not drastic, but why not make things a bit easier to read if you can? The chassis is otherwise unchanged, and it is still blocky and somewhat heavy. In fact, at 99×53x21mm the phone is about 0.82 inches thick, and this is constantly being pointed out as one of the phone’s shortcomings. Despite the cool dual slider design, the N95’s form factor does not compare favorably to much of the competition. This is especially true considering that the N95 does not have a QWERTY keyboard, like other high-end phones, like the Tilt or iPhone.

The camera shoots images at up to 5 megapixels, putting it at the cutting edge as far as today's mobile phones are concerned. It'll also shoot video at up to 640 x 480. There is a TV-out cable, so you can show photos and vids to others - and indeed can show anything the screen of this phone displays.

There is a front-facing camera too, because this is a 3G handset with two-way video calling support. It is also a quad-band GSM phone.

Things have moved on, though, and Nokia re-released the N95 with 8GB of built-in memory and improved software. Oh, and the phone is black as opposed to the original N95's rather grubby silver.

Bought this phone about 8 months back. The phone was dead in the 6th month. Went to Nokia care centre, the phone was replaced by a used handset. I did not accept the handset as it had scratches everywhere!
The handset was replaced once again with a used handset. This process took a whooping 2 months.
The replaced handset was worst, it used to hang at any time. No life on the handset although all the lights on the handset were on, the screen went blank. I had to remove the battery to reset it.
Went to Nokia care centre once again, they formatted the phone and put the software back. Within a week same problem reappeared.
The fourth handset is currently being tested by the Nokia Care Centre owner and it has already failed!
Have asked to replace the handset with a new one or to upgrade the handset with N96 but no response from Nokia. Fed up after numerous emails, phone calls and visit to local service centre.
My advice, don't buy any of the Nokia handsets. Faulty handset and ridiculous service! Stay away from it!
